One Step in Front of the Other

This morning started groggy. That particular kind of groggy where you wake up with the feeling that maybe you overslept and somehow already fell behind the day.

I made a coffee and, slowly, as the fog started to clear, I could feel the pull of the work waiting for me. Social posts and art. Patreon updates for the new singles. Small things, but the kinds of things that slowly move everything forward.

One step in front of the other has been the mantra for the day.

There are days when putting your head down and getting to work is the only way through. No grand vision. No lightning bolt of inspiration. Just showing up and seeing what happens.

Yesterday was a good day. I mixed down Particle Bunni’s latest The Quiet Room single for Patreon, and I am genuinely excited about how it turned out. Listening to it feels a little like floating in the ocean with your eyes closed, feeling the water rise and fall around you.

Then, somehow, a 90-second video for the track came together in less than an hour. One of those rare moments where things move without resistance, where an idea seems to already know what it wants to be.

I think that is part of why today feels different. Momentum can be a strange thing. Sometimes it arrives all at once. Sometimes it only shows up after you have already started moving.
